Tips & TidBits

I am not suggesting that everyone become Pagan or Wiccan. My site is here simply to inform the public so that they do not walk around saying Pagans and Wiccans worship the devil and sacrifice cats at midnight under the full moon while dancing naked around a fire. Which is simply not true. Pagans do not believe in and ultimate good or evil. We simply view people as they are. One of mother natures children.

I do not want to convert anyone. I just want people to understand that the religion that is right for some people is not right for all. I have the utmost respect for whatever religion you chose even if it does not seem like it at times.

Interested?

If you are interested in Paganism or Wicca I suggest you go to your local bookstore. Barnes and Nobles carries a large supply of books on Wicca in the new age section. Reading is the best way to learn anything. There are also several good web sites where you can find a never ending supply of imformation. Check my links page for a quick list of sources. I don't know if I can add a book list to this site or not but it is definately something I will look into. I will gladly answer any questions you may have simply post them on the message board. Feel free to post anything on the messages board except spam.

Pagan Questions

I know people have all sorts of questions about Pagans in general and even though I am not Wiccan I do know a lot about them. You see there are no books that are entitled, "So Your Pagan but Not Wiccan." I do tend to take a lot of things from the Wiccan Traditions but all in all I do not consider myself Wiccan.

I will be more than happy to answer any questions anyone has and post them on this page. The questioner will remain nameless. Until I have some questions though I will use this page to tell a little about my past and how I came to be what I am today. You can submit questions to me through email, my guestbook, the message board, or even as feedback on my journal.

Who I am

I like to think that I was raised as a Pagan, after all there was absolutely no other religion in my life. My Grandmother knew all these home remedies that she used on all the grandkids when they were sick or hurt. My parents loved working outside on their gardens. Our yard was always the most beautiful in the neighborhood no matter where we lived. I was raised to not waste anything and if I could not finish my meal it was placed outside for animals to eat. I was raised to love nature and everything that is natural. There is a lot more to Wicca than that but that is what makes me Pagan.

I also have a deep love of Ireland being part Irish myself. I actually first came across Wicca while checking out some things about Ireland on the net. I learned that the word pagan means the country folk, which is what I am. Paganism was one of the first religions in history. It was derived by the country folk and it was simply celebrations of the seasons and important crop dates, such as planting and harvesting time. Early paganism also revolved around the movements of the moon. With such a big bright thing in the sky how could our ancestors not take notice.

Pagans have taken a bad rap for years. We have been called devil worshippers and other harsh things because we do not believe what others believe. Many of the symbols Pagans, and Wiccans use are symbols of the devil to Christians. Of course, Christianity was developed to make Pagans look like fools. The founders of the Christian religion took pride in the fact that the devil they had created looked almost exactly like the god worshiped by Pagans. This was a powerful tool used to help convert pagans to their way of seeing. The pentecle has long been associated with magic, meaning earth, air, water, fire, and spirit. Thats it. It does not call demons from the depths of hell or any other such thing it is simply a symbol.

Pagans believe in many things that other religions do not. I can't speak for all Pagans but I believe in dragons, faeries, pixies, gnomes, leprechauns, unicorns, and many other fairy tale type creatures. Just because you can not see something does not mean it isn't there. Isn't that what christians say when you ask them about God? It is true with many things. Only with these creatures you can see them if you know how and where to look. I will be adding more about these creatures soon.

The Goddess and the Sun God are the major Gods Wiccans believe in. The Goddess is represented by the moon and the God is represented by the Sun. The Goddess or the triple Goddess can be found in three forms. The maiden is the young beautiful Goddess. She represents beauty and innocents. The Mother represents love and nuturing, and the Crone represents wisdom. The God is sometimes called the horned God and is offten seen as a man with the legs of a goat as well as horns. This is where the christian devil came from.

Magick. Yes spelled with a K, so it is not confused with illusion. Illusion is the type of magic magicians like David Copperfield do. Magick is real magick, it comes from the heart and soul. Magick can be used to heal physical or emotional ills. It can be used to give streanght to someone who has fallen upon hard times. Magick can be used to project yourself into a different realm of reality. Magick is a science. It is not something thought up by someone trying to make money off of it. Most magick can be used with noting but pure willpower.
